Lots of people need a Boogieman to rally against, and connect socially in the process. Bonus points if you can feel smug and superior. Hello, climate change.

Bad science, much of it.

The Earth's climate has been changing back and forth for millions of years. Even I stayed awake in the class that taught about the Ice Age.

It amuses me that mankind thinks they have the power to stop warming, cooling or any of Earth's natural disasters.

What mankind does need to do is stop poisoning the environment and accept that the Earth is not a friendly place to inhabit but it's the only habitat we have at this point in time.

Hey Momma Fargo,

I consider the "climate change" debate to be junk science. It is socialism cloaked in environmental science. Some how the western based countries have to pay whereas China and India get a pass. I am sure something about the rule of law is different there than here....

Meh... Reality doesn't matter, cause the MODELS say this and that... sigh...

We're around, just flailing along... :-D

Somehow, I am not surprised that I agree with all of you.

We are all going to die. Sooner or later. Climate change, a car wreck, or old age.

I do believe that some of the posters here have lived through the ice age, not only studied upon it.

It comes down not to what MAN is doing, but rather what MOTHER EARTH decides to do.
And no amount of HUMAN intervention will change that (besides, who wants to get Mother Earth PO'ed...I don't)

Everything runs in cycles on this planet...always has and always will.
And, it also has the means to "repair itself"...been doing OK there too.

The whole PC gig about global warming is (imho) a farce.
The climate DOES change, and we have little say in it.
We're just "along for the ride".

Stay safe out there.

Thank you for your wonderful Blog. I Am a young doctor from Australia and read your blog pretty much daily. Your blog brings much needed humor into a great many situations as well as encouraging discussion and thought about subjects. when I read your blog, I feel as though you are having a conversation with us (the readers) rather than the soap box style some other bloggers employ. My thoughts regarding climate change are that I Believe that it is real, and that it is happening. I do not understand enough of the climate science to argue against the Scientists, and place my trust in there advice; however, I also feel that the media that reports on the science has less understanding than I do on the matter, and twist the facts in order to get ratings. Regardless of how much of climate change is man made, or natural, The climate is a mighty thing, and we should consider it in our planning for the future.

Great points, everyone! You all have valid statements. And A. Nona Moose, how did you know I lived through the ice age?

cameron,

Thank you so much for your comments and I am so glad to hear your remarks about my blog. I do like to have discussions and engage with people. I commend you on your profession and I bet it is fascinating in Australia. You have many valid points which I agree with, especially the media twists. Drama sells. I try to tread lightly on the Earth and I respect Mother Nature. Climate change is real in my opinion as well.
